Modern & Playful Condo - Part 3
Welcome to the final product!
The entry way is the perfect jumping off point to set the tone for this project. Remember those amazing pieces of art we show cased in our inspiration post last week? Well, we loved them so much we just had to use them! The vibrant colours and modern frames really set the mood and introduce the rest of the space.
We also switched out the standard ceiling fixtures for an unexpected alternative, they add light into the space and they added, much needed, personality into the space.
Our primary focus for the dining room was to make it a more functional space. By re-designating the placement of the chandelier closer to the kitchen island, it allowed us to add an extendable dining table while also opening up the traffic flow throughout the main living area. We purchased the modern adjustable armed chandelier from West Elm, it adds just the right amount of modern bling to the dining room.
Keeping with the no fuss, easy to maintain design, we introduced the white dining chairs for their cleanable surface and stacking ability. They are perfect for storing away any extra seating when not entertaining company.
Continuing with our fun and modern theme, we found these one-of-a-kind lamps on a HomeSense visit, and we just had to use them! The lamps paired with the teal-blue accent chairs, and natural wood elements, add just the right amount of West Coast style to the space.
When creating a functional space plan for the living room, we wanted to make sure it would act as a conversation area with the fireplace as the main focal point. We did this by flanking the two teal-blue chairs by the fireplace and placing the sofa adjacent. This not only creates a cozy conversational area, but also highlights the new storage units we had custom built to fit the fireplace.
The Den/Office was an exciting space for us during this project as it was a blank canvas. With few requirements from the clients for this room, aside from additional lighting and storage, we were able to be more creative with defining the space.
At the entrance of the Den/Office we added a drop zone for storing odds and ends. It makes for an easy place to toss house keys and to store mittens, scarves and other seasonal items. To brighten up the space, we incorporated a round mirror to reflect light back into the room, and for quick checks before leaving the home.
The focal point of this room is no doubt the custom desk and open shelving, which add visual interest to the space. What else does every office need? Comfortable chairs and great lighting! We have both of those covered. With the addition of a unique track light system, as well as a lighter coat of paint, the office space brightened up nicely. Let’s not forget about the fabulous Saddle Office Chairs from West Elm, so comfy! By incorporating a large scale wooden desk top, it functions as a work space for two people and/or provides the children with an area to do crafts.
Drawing inspiration from the living room, we knew this room needed a punch of colour. With that said, there’s nothing more inviting than a cozy bed layered with a variety of textured linens. Our priority was to blend these ideas into one, which led to this now sophisticated West Coast bedroom.
It was important to add a little sparkle into the bedroom, so we incorporated a modern ceiling fixture and two large walnut trimmed mirrors to reflect light. This room changed dramatically with a punch of colour, and with a focus on texture.
During the initial meeting, the clients explained that the home would be used for family vacations, but they may transition it into a rental condo. While discussing this, the solution of using a larger bed for the girls to share, while including two large scale night stands, allowed for them to still feel like they had their own independent space.
Let’s talk storage, you want to know where? We’ll tell you! The girls bedroom has a variety of storage solutions. The bed has a hydrolic lift base, which houses large items that are not used regularly. For their clothing and toys the girls can use their large nightstands, the two ottomans with lids and the new custom closet. In the closet we included low drawers and rods so that the girls can access their belongings.
We tied in the bold colours that were used throughout the living space, and made the girls bedroom a vibrant and playful space that they can grow with.
Project London was a joy to work on, mainly because we had such a fantastic family to work with. Our goal always is to have our clients feeling comfortable and at home in their new space, this client was no exception.
